We don't have to look far afield to find evidence of bad carpentry in language. A student, replying to an invitation to dinner, finished his letter: "   I shall be delighted to come and I'm looking forward to the day with anxiety." Anxiety carries with it suggestions of worry and fear. What the writer meant was possibly eagerness. Anxiety has some kinship with eagerness but it will not do as a substitute in this context.

译文:使用不得体的语言的范例比比皆是。有同学在答复晚宴邀请的请柬中写道:”承蒙邀请,不胜欣喜。吾将焦虑以待。“焦虑内含焦急惶恐之意。作者原本可能意指”热切“。焦虑确与”热切“相关,但此类语境下不宜替换。
